Non NHS Services
Please expect a fee for non NHS services such as university letters, housing letters, travel cancellations, fitness to fly, medical reports and examinations. The staff or your doctor should inform of any charges before carrying out non NHS work.
Practice Nurses
You can book an appointment with a Practice Nurse for 2-3 weeks ahead. Our Practice Nurses provide a wide range of services including:
- Travel Advice, Vaccinations and Immunisations
- Minor illness clinics, Dressings Wounds
- Chronic Diseases Monitoring (Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, Hypertension)
- Weight Management and Lifestyle Advice
- Well Women Clinics, Sexual Health, Family Planning, Cervical Smears
District Nurses
The Practice has a team of District Nurses who visit people when they are unable to attend the surgery.
District Nurses have training and experience in wound care, chronic disease management including diabetes, continence promotion and palliative care.
The team provides nursing care between 8.30am - 5.00pm and also provides an evening service. The team can be contacted on 0300 555 1919
Health Visitors
The Ladywood Health Visiting Team provide advice and support for families and children under 5 and expectant parents.
Health Visitors have training and experience in child health, health education and health promotion including parenting skills, teething, sleeping, feeding, or any special difficulties the family may be facing.

Blood Tests
An in house service is provided three times per week.
Please contact the surgery 5 to 7 days after having your blood test to find out if you need to book an appointment to discuss your results with a doctor.
Chronic Disease
We have specialist nurses who can provide chronic disease monitoring for:
- Asthma
- COPD
- Diabeties
- Heart (blood pressure)
Counselling
The Practice is served by a qualified counsellor and patients may be referred for individual counselling by any of the clinical staff.
Listening & Guidance Chaplaincy Service
Sometimes we just need to be heard by someone who will listen. Listening and Guidance is an NHS confidential, pastoral and spiritual care service provided by Chaplains for Wellbeing. The service is for patients experiencing grief, stress, anxiety or sadness, struggling with illness, making difficult decisions or overwhelmed by life. Ask your GP or pick up a leaflet in the surgery.
Family Planning
We provide a confidential service for both male and female patients, including:
- Repeat contraceptive pill checks
- Condoms
- Emergency morning after pill
- Contraception services
Flu Jab
For patients over 65 or those with a chronic disease such as asthma, diabetes and heart disease we offer the opportunity to be immunised against flu each year and a one off vaccination against pneumonia. Winter Flu clinics are held every year. Details are available from reception.
Minor Surgery
Appointments for minor surgery including joint injections, skin lesions and cyst removal are available.

Sexual Health
We provide a confidential service for both male and female patients, including:
- Sexual health advice
- Sexually transmitted disease testing
- HIV screening
Teenagers
Both the GPs and Practice Nurses will see young people under the age of 16 unaccompanied.
